SE vs. SASE

How do I choose between SE and SASE Shelves?

First of all, to save my fingers, I'm going to refer to "Super Erecta®" as "SE" and "Super Adjustable Super Erecta®" as "SASE".

One of the best things about the Metro® SE and SASE Shelving Systems is all the ways you can combine parts and pieces together to make a custom solution to your storage situation.

If you are creative and want learn all the possibilities for this system you are in the right place. If you just want a Pre-Configured Shelving Unit without having to think too much about it go here.

Let's dispel a few myths you might have picked up on the internet somewhere.

1. SE is not adjustable, but SASE is.

Like some myths this is partly true, but not the whole story. SE is adjustable. It's adjustable in 1" increments all up and down the post. So why are SASE shelves considered $5 better? Because they are SUPER ADJUSTABLE!! You see SASE has better, easier adjustability than SE.

2. I should always buy SASE because its the latest, greatest.

False. You need to think about your situation. Are you going to ever going to move the shelves up and down after you have set them up for the first time? If no, you might as well just get an SE System and save $5 per shelf. It's not impossible to re-adjust SE shelves, its just easier to re-adjust SASE Shelves.

3. So if I read behind the lines, its hard to re-adjust SE Shelves.

Hold on. Depends on what your idea is hard is. The truth is that, after sitting around for awhile, the SE Shelves and the Split-Sleeves tightly settle and compress around the post. This is, after all, what the system was designed to do. This is what makes the system so strong and reliable. The problem is that sometimes you have to take a rubber mallet or something and pound up on the shelves to get them to release.

4. So SASE Shelves are for people who don't want to struggle as much in life and are willing to pay a little bit more?

Yep. Instead of the rubber mallet, you have four levers, flip up the levers and the shelf will instantly release even if it's been there a long, long time.

5. SASE Posts are different from SE Posts

False. SASE and SE are the same in every way, except in the method used to attach the shelf to the post. Everything else is the same: same post, same dividers, same ledges, same everything. The only difference is the Split Sleeve you need to order if you lose them.

6. I can just convert my SE to an SASE later when I want to.

False. SE and SASE are fundamentally different. Conversion is impossible.

7. SASE is not as strong as SE.

False. They both have the same load rating: 800 LBS up to 60" in length. Beyond 60" the load rating drops to 600 LBS.
